Interface design identity and content. By interface design identity, I mean the way in which my website ‘Self Made Creative Clothing’ is laid out and how exactly it is pieced together to achieve the best possible user experience. No employer or student is going to want to come onto the site and find it difficult to access content and specific information. They are going to want to enter the site and be able to find their own way around with out finding themselves going in circles. I have designed the navigation flow in such a way that every page is linked to one another and I have included a navigation bar both at the top of the page and at the bottom of the page. The navigation bar at the bottom of the page allows the user to access the other pages with out having to scroll up to the top of the webpage again. This can be very time consuming especially if the website has a lot of content.
Overall user experience and usability is what I am trying to achieve with my website, whilst of course trying to create the desired visual feel. The main reason as to why the employers and students are going to use this site is to achieve something. The usability caters for this thus creating the overall user experience when using the website. The aim for ‘Self Made Creative Clothing’ was to make it as understandable as possible, what the company is, why it does what it does and the outcomes of its operation. I want the user to accomplish there goals when going through the website and to come away with a solid understanding and answer to the questions they first had before using the website.
Content - The content i am going to use for my website has been provided by the client for the client. All text will be proof read to make sure there are not any faults. The typography font in my website wil have alternative font faces incase a consumer has an older machine and doesn't support the font. This would be accessibility.
Text - My desired/ chosen font face, size, colour and any other formatting with be consistant throughout my webpages, in order to keep to a theme. This looks more professional then having loads of different font faces with different visual styles and formats.
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) - This is a process the website will go through in order for search engines to pick out key words/ hits from the website and display it closer to the top when someone searches a key word that the website has stored.
Loading Time - This is a key concept as i want my site to load up quickly and efficiently instead of having to wait and it being al glitchy. I want it to run smoothly no matter what the content is, weather it be images, text or even streaming videos.
Layout - The layout of my website has already been researched and thought about. i have created wireframes in order to sort out what content is going where on what page. In the long run this has been a big help because ei havent had to make up a layout on the spot and hoping everything fits in with one another.
Navigation - The navigation i have used is a very basic and simple design allowing the user to enter any page from the page they are currently on. This makes the site run smoothly and is basically impossible for the consumer of the site to get lost or go in circles.
Colour - colour was already pre determined by the client as he wanted it to be a rainbow colour. how ever some monitors cant handle the strength of some colours so i will need to look into hexadecimal colours for web design.
Size - i am going to make my size 900 pixels wide by how ever much content there is with in my site for length. this will allow the site to grow when new content is added. standard monitors have a 960 pixel width so i am going to put mine at 900 so it has a 30 pixel leeway each side.
