Destructive Vs non-destrustive editing

Definition of destructive editing...

Destructive 'Permanently alters the original sound or sound file'.
filmsound.org/terminology/sound-terms_x.htm

In my own words Destructive editing is when you alter the image itself and change its natural state. Such as erasing pixels in photoshop, warping or transforming the image, editing colour levels or curves. It is best to copy the original image that you are editing just incase something goes wrong and you then have a back up.

Definition of non-destructive editing...

Non-destructive 'does not change the original data'.

In my own words non-destructive editing allows the user to edit and manipulate the image without editing the images natural state. an example of this would be using layer masks over the top of the image layers in photoshop.
